Neurogenic Tumors of the Mediastinum
1974
Abstract The experience of one Australian teaching hospital with neurogenic tumors during the period 1957 to June, 1973, is documented. The diagnosis of neurogenic tumor was made in 35 patients. Schwannoma was the most common lesion, occurring in 23 patients. Ganglioneuroma was seen in 6 patients, ganglioneuroblastoma in 1, neuroblastoma in 4, and pheo-chromocytoma in 1. Clinical features, diagnosis, and management are presented. The differences between schwannoma and neurofibroma are discussed, as no patient with the latter diagnosis was seen.
