High-alumina cement in UK construction

2004
High-alumina cement (HAC) is also known as aluminous cement or calcium aluminate cement (CAC). HAC was first produced In France in 1913, following earlier problems due to concrete deterioration in sulfate-containing soils, particularly on the PLM railway in the south of France, and various seawater defences. HAC was first used extensively In World War I for building gun emplacements and shelters. More general marketing in France stoned in 1918, the material was marketed in the UK in 1923 and produced from 1925 onwards.
