Corona processing of coal

1964
A process is described for conversion of coal to liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons by subjecting coal to free hydrogen and methyl radicals in electric corona discharge. Data are presented for reactions in gaseous systems, gas and solid coal systems, gas and liquid hydrocarbon systems, and gas and vapor systems. Better measurements are needed for determining the economics of the process.
