SELFCONSISTENT DESCRIPTION OF TEXTOR EQUILIBRIA NECESSARY FOR ENHANCED FLUX SWING REQUIREMENTS

To include the treatment of the magnetization of the transformer iron in the iterative solution of the Grad-Shafranov equation in integral equation for a current density concentrated at the iron surface is derived from the discontinuity relation for the tangential component of the magnetic inductance. Calculation concerning the upgraded TEXTOR-configuration characterized by a long primary solenoid show that a flux swing of 9.16 Vs is achievable if the current I pr in the primary solenoid changes between −12 MA and 12 MA.
