Pionic fusion a tool to coherently produce new isotopes
1983
Abstract A reaction mechanism is proposed which avoids the usually observed thermalisation in nuclear collisions and which allows the cold fusion of two complex nuclei. This fusion model has been successfully applied to the available experimental data. A systematic investigation of the possible coherent reaction modes might eventually allow the cold production of new nuclei, even outside the known region of stability.
