Expression and Significance of the Genes Involved in Lymphoid Development in Nasal NK/T-Cell Lymphoma

2007
To explore the expression and significance of the genes related to lymphocyte development in nasal NK/T lymphoma (N-NK/T-L).Methods:The expression of EOMES(eomesodermin homolog)gene,ETS-1 gene and MEF (myeloid Elf-1 like factor) gene in 25 cases of N-NK/T-L and 25 control cases (including 11 cases of B cell lymphoma (BCL), 6 cases of T cell lymphoma(TCL),3 cases of normal spleen, 5 cases of chronic nasopharyngifis) were detected by tissue microarray and in situ hybridization. Results:Three genes each have its expression in N-NK/T-L and control groups.EOMES gene expressed in all N-NKdT-L and 840/0 of them were high expression.Compared with BCL(55O% high expression)and TCL(17% high expression),the expression of EOMES in N-NK/T-L was much higher than that in BCL(P=0.0029)and TCL(P=0.0010). MEF gene expressed in 24(96%)of 25 cases N-NK/T-L and 17 cases(68%) were high expression, and its expression in N-NK/ T-L was significantly higher than that in TCL(P=0.0050),in which only 1 case(17%)was high expression.ETS-1 expressed in all cases of N-NK/T-L and control groups. Conclusion:The expression of EOMES gene and MEF gene may function in the development of N-NK/T-L and the rumor necrosis. The general expression of ETS-1 gene indicates that it may be a fundamental common part of the program of lymphoid development and function.
