Air-Conditioning System in Surgical and Critical Care: A Review

Air-conditioning systems in operating theaters must be carefully designed so as to meet the standards set by NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers) and other govt. medical agencies. There are several factors to be taken into consideration for avoiding the life-threatening problems such as hypothermia and anaesthetic gas pollution. Comfort conditions can be achieved by air movement which gets from the air-conditioning system. This paper summarizes the relevant use of air-conditioning systems in operation theatre for achieving a healthy environment and assuring the comfort of the patient and surgical team.
