Thermal recording material

2006
To provide a thermal recording material, which is excellent in color development sensitivity and whiteness of the texture, by preparing a dispersion liquid which has excellent dispersion efficiency, is less likely to cause liquid fogging, and is excellent in dispersion stability and storage stability of the dispersion liquid upon heating. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A thermal recording material comprising a support bearing thereon a thermal color development layer containing an electron donating colorless dye and an electron receiving compound, characterized in that the thermal color development layer contains a carboxyl group-containing polyvinyl alcohol resin (A) which has been produced by saponification of a polyvinyl ester produced by polymerization in the presence of aldehydes or ketones and has an absorbance of 0.20 to 0.85 at 280 nm when measured by an ultraviolet absorption spectrum as an aqueous solution having a concentration of 0.1% by weight.
