El impacto de la evaluación externa en dos instituciones de educación superior en México

2004
The aim of this article is to look closely at the impact of external assessment in two higher education institutes with differing legal structures: the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana–Unidad Azcapotzalco and the Universidad Iberoamericana. The article analyzes university institutional change since the Mexican higher education policy of quality and financing, with a view to verifying the role played by this policy as a key detonator of institutional change in the University sphere. The article comprises three main parts. The first looks at the government assessment strategy as instrumental in university change. The second analyses the cases of the UAM–A and the UIA, that is to say, the relationship between each university’s particular form of organization, as well as the relationship between this form and the change implemented. Finally, the third part offers, in the form of a conclusion, a balance of the impact.
