3-Dimensional Propagation Model for Simulation of the Ventricular Depolarization and Repolarization Processes and Induced Body Surface Potentials

1986
We have some knowledge about how the depolarization front propagates down from the sinus node to the ventricles and how its front behaves when it meets myocardial infarction or block of bundle branches. But, the so- called inverse problem, in which electric activities of the heart is estimated from the body surface potential, does not use such knowledge and too heavy load is given to mathematics. Therefore, details of the propagation of the depolarization front and the repolarization cannot be obtained. To overcome this difficulty we have tried computer simulation for propagation of depolarization and repolarization in the myocardium based on a model involving local propagation mechanisms of the action potential.
