The invention discloses a vegetable protein adhesive, a preparation method and a modified adhesive prepared by the vegetable protein adhesive and a crosslinker. The preparation method of the vegetableprotein adhesive comprises acid modification processing carried out on vegetable protein under the acid condition and alkali modification processing under the alkali condition. The vegetable proteinadhesive is formed by carrying out a plurality of acid and alkali combined degeneration on the vegetable protein, and glued boards prepared by adopting the vegetable protein adhesive have high water-resistant bonding strength and meet the requirements of II class of glued boards. When the proper crosslinker is added, the prepared modified vegetable protein adhesive can also meet the requirements of I class of glued boards, and all of the prepared hard boards do not release formaldehyde.
