Labetalol blockade of central α- and β-noradrenergic receptors in rat brain homogenates

1980
Summary Labetalol, a new antihypertensive drug, has been reported to be a mixed antagonist of peripheral α- and β-adrenergic receptors. Our results indicate that the drug displays the same mixed activity also in the CNS since it is able to displace the binding to cerebral cortex membranes of both 3 H WB 4101 and 3 H Dihydroalprenolol, specific markers of α- and β-adrenergic receptors, respectively.
