Simplified model of induction machine with broken rotor bars

This paper presents a simplified dynamic model of an induction machine with broken rotor cage bars. Starting with the rotor voltage equation in rotor reference frame, equations are transformed into usual field reference frame, after taking into account unequal parameters in both axes, as a consequence of the fault. In the process, several simplifications have been introduced and resistance change due to temperature has been accounted for. The model has been verified through simulations, with its stator current compared to the measured one. Spectra of both currents are in very good agreement regardless of the number of broken bars or load torque.
