Hydrodynamic and mass transfer characteristics of distillation trays with trapezoidal valves

The ''TK'' tray was investigated in a ''cold'' test stand with a rectangular cross section (300 x 800 mm) on a water/air system and in a ''hot'' test stand with a circular cross section (1200 mm diameter) on a toluene/o-xylene system. The results obtained in these studies demonstrate the desirability of using TK trays in industry. The trays are simple in design, and there is practically no waste in fabricating the trays; hence, the reconstruction of towers can be handled by the refinery work force. An annual economic advantage of 300,000 rubles from reconstruction is predicted.
