Applications of Nitrogen for the Management of Bacterial Blight of Paddy

2014
Field trials were conducted to assess the effect of different levels of nitrogen on the incidence and severity of bacterial leaf blight of paddy. Results revealed that, the bacterial blight intensity was found significantly increased with increase in dosage of nitrogen from lower to higher levels. The maximum disease intensity of 5.56 per cent disease incidence (PDI) was recorded in treatment with 150 per cent excess nitrogen, which was on par with all other previous treatments except the treatment with recommended dosage of nitrogen. Lowest bacterial blight intensity of 4.42 PDI at 60 DAT was noticed with the application of recommended nitrogen.
