Elastomeric holder for a surgical instrument

A surgical instrument comprising: a handle (104); a clamp (102) coupled pivotally to the handle and arranged to move relative to the handle to secure the handle to another surgical instrument; and a fastener (114) secured to the gripper and arranged to be manipulated by a user to move the clip relative to the handle; wherein the fastener is formed of an elastomeric material and the instrument further comprises a portion of elastomeric spring (118) integrally formed with the clamping portion extending spring from the support and arranged to move the relative movement between the handle and caliper and for moving the gripper into an engaged position in which the additional surgical element is secured to the handle.
