Investigation for presence of chlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and dibenzofurans (PCDFs) in bleaching processes from pulp and paper industries

The occurence of PCDD and PCDF were determined in bleaching processes effluents from 9 pulp and paper mills in province of Quebec. Optimisation of extraction and clean-up have been done previous to the study. Results show that TCDF isomers are the most abundant species and that a concentration range from Non Detected (N.D.) to 9.3 ng/L is observed between the differents total bleachery effluents.
