It is a process for the purification or production of cyclic formals described. The method essentially comprises the following steps: A cyclic formal and water-containing mixture to be brought into contact with a membrane; across the membrane a pressure difference is applied; on the permeate side of the membrane to obtain a product having a higher dioxolane and a lower concentration of water relative to the starting mixture.
