The scattering of 38 MeV alpha particles by C12

Abstract The differential cross sections for the elastic and inelastic scattering of 38 MeV alpha particles from C 12 have been measured using a photographic technique. Comparisons with the work of other authors at slightly different energies indicate that the angular distributions vary rather strongly with beam energy. The variation of the elastic distribution is too great to be explained on the basis of the simple optical model.
