Thermotolerant campylobacter species associated with human diarrhea in Latin America

1992
The available information (Medline, Lilacs) about thermotolerant species of Campylobacter from Latin America (LA) was revised. Campylobacter spp. can be considered in this region as important agents of human bacterial diarrhea, being isolated from a great variety of birds and mammals and from food, surface waters and sewage. These bacteria represent a public health problem not yet well defined, despite the great information on the biological, pathogenical, clinical and epidemiological aspects of campylobacteriosis originated in LA.
