Glocal Computing

2011
Cloud Computing is catching more attention around the world with its excellent features in providing the services and advantages in economy both for the end-users and Cloud providers. However, due to lack of enough resources, Cloud vendors currently can only provide general resources and services, like computing as a service but not suitable for research on specific domain. Grid Computing, on the other hand, excels in assembling domain resources but is more complicated for use. In this paper, we propose Glocal (Global local) Computing based on these two technologies, aiming to promote resource sharing globally and coordinated problem solving locally at ease. Analysis shows that Glocal Computing can promote resource sharing and reuse and well support collaborated problem solving.
