: In spite of a small increase in nursing school enrollments for the first time in five years, the demand for nursing services will continue to outstrip the supply during this decade. The solutions to this dilemma are obvious: More efficient use of the current supply of nurses and increased numbers of people entering the nursing profession. This article addresses the second solution, exploring the influence of physicians on career choices in nursing and describing a model doctor/nurse relationship that brings nurses pride and job satisfaction.
