Glokom sonucta optik disk yapisinda "cukurlasma" ile be- raber gorme alani kayiplarina yol acan retina gangliyon hucreleri ve bunlarin aksonlarinda ilerleyici atrofiye neden olan bir optik sinir hastaligidir. Heidelberg retinal tomog- rafi (HRT) optik sinir basi ve arka kutbun uc boyutlu ola- rak incelenmesini saglayan bir konfokal tarayici laser of- talmoskoptur. Bu derlemede, HRT aletinin teknik detaylari ile beraber; glokom hastalarinin tani ve takibindeki duyar- liligi degerlendirilmistir. ABSTRACT Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve characterized by a specific pattern of progressive injury to retinal gangli- on cells and their axons, which results in alteration of op- tic disc topography, commonly known as "cupping," and associated visual field loss. The Heidelberg retinal tomog- raphy (HRT) is a confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscope specifically designed to acquire three-dimensional images of the optic nerve head and posterior pole. In this review we evaluated technical details and sensetivity of the HRT machine in diagnosis and progression of glaucoma pati- ents.
