ALLOWANCE FOR THE POLYDISPERSITY OF POWDERED FUEL IN AN MHD UNIT

1992
A numerical study is made of the effect of the incomplete combustion of powdered carbon fuel on the electrical conductivity of a plasma during the motion of a two-phase mixture in a specific MHD generator. It is shown that it is incorrect to allow for the polydispersity of carbon fuel through successive calculations of the combustion of monodisperse fractions. An expression is obtained for the dependence of the temperature of the microflame around each aluminum particle of the polydisperse ensemble on the size of the particle and its position in the plasma generator.
