Stop Signal Task and the Related Models of Response Inhibiton

2013
The paradigm named stop signal task is a very useful tool for the study of response inhibition. In recent years, it has been used to investigate response inhibition in cognitive neuroscience, psychopathology and other reseach fields. This article reviewed the stop signal task procedure and its evaluation index. Then we focused on the models of response inhibition in the stop signal task, especially the independent horse-race model. We finally discussed the shortcoming of the stop signal paradigm, which could be a steppingstone to the futher development of the stop signal task study.
