Migration Trends and Migration Potential of Georgia’s Population

In this chapter, we discuss migratory processes in Georgia and their determining factors after gaining independence in 1990. We assess migration trends and the parameters of their structural changes, and demonstrate that the migratory processes in Georgia are prone to the general laws of migration. This is confirmed by the results of a sociological survey we conducted with students as potential migrants. We evaluate the migratory intentions of the students, and based on that, the scale of potential migration within the next 5 years, as well as the factors motivating migration from Georgia.
