Inhibition Effect of FPTA on Carbon Steel in H2SO4Solution

The corrosion inhibition effects of furaldehyde [5-(p-methyl benzene)-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thio]-acetyl hydrazones(FPTA)on carbon steel in 0.5 mol· L-1 H2SO4 solution were investigated by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization curves,electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)methods.The results show that FPTA is a good inhibitor in 0.5mol·L-1 H2SO4.The adsorption of FPTA on carbon steel surface obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm.FPTA acts as a mixed-type inhibitor in 0.5mol·L-1 H2SO4.
