Anomaly Detection of Technical Loss Based on Situation Awareness and Control Chart Technologies

Technical losses are comprised of power dissipation in components of power system. This paper proposes a method to detect the abnormal technical loss based on situation awareness and control chart technologies. The situation awareness technology is used to perceive the future trend of the technical loss based on the predicted load data and power flow calculation. The control chart is employed to detect the abnormality of the technical loss based on the differences between the perceived technical loss and actual technical loss. Three abnormal technical loss scenarios are set and simulated to evaluate the proposed method. The results show that the proposed method effectively detects abnormal technical loss.
