Sonic Boom Modeling of Advanced Supersonic Business Jets in NextGen

*† A Sonic Boom Analysis has been conducted to assess the impact of projected operations by advanced Supersonic Business Jets (SSBJ). The operations were defined using a business case model developed by the Raytheon Team conducting NASA NextGen NRA research. ACES provided the projected 4D trajectories for the vehicle and PCBoom 6 was used to compute single event sonic boom exposure considering terrain effects for each supersonic operation. Vehicle source characteristics modeled are reflective of low-boom optimized vehicles with boom suppression technology. An examination of the effects of terrain on single event loudness is provided. Cumulative boom impact results are also provided for the continental United States.
