An interactive projection washing machine and a control method. The washing machine comprises: a machine body (1), a cover (2) that can be opened/closed being provided on the machine body (1), and a color-changeable display area (4) being provided on the cover (2); a projection device, which is provided on the machine body (1) and/or the cover (2), and projects an operation display menu of the washing machine into the color-changeable display area (4) for display; a touch operation device (5), which is provided on the surface of the color-changeable display area (4) and corresponds to the operation display menu; and a control device, which is separately electrically connected to the projection device and the touch operation device (5), and controls, after receiving a touch control signal of a user output from the touch operation device (5), the projection device to project corresponding content into the color-changeable display area (4) for display. According to the washing machine in the present invention, touch control operations can be directly performed in the color-changeable display area (4); the color-changeable display area (4) is dark during projection to improve the display definition, and can turn into light or transparent for a user to view the internal condition of the washing machine.
