TRANSATLANTIC RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE EUROPEAN UNION AND THE UNITED STATES WITH A SPECIAL FOCUS ON THEIR APPROACHES TOWARDS MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA REGION IN THE POST-COLD WAR ERA: FROM COMPETITION TO COOPERATION

This article assesses the transatlantic relationship between the European Union (EU) and United States (US) by focusing on their role in the international arena particularly in the Middle East and North Africa region(MENA) In this connection, security concerns, interests and aims of these two powers in this region, their different approaches and the factors which leads to divergences in their approaches to this region, rivalry between the EU and the US, andfinally changing international environment which might lead to closer relationship between these two powers are evaluated.
