La efectividad de un protocolo de neurorrehabilitación en personas con trastorno bipolar de Quito

2018
Currently, it has been determined that Bipolar Disorder develop chronic cognitive deficits, which generate persistent alterations in abilities such as memory, attention, psychomotor speed and executive function. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a neurorehabilitation protocol in adults diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder treated at a specialized hospital in the Metropolitan District of Quito. The sample will include 20 bipolar patients to be part of a neurocognitive rehabilitation program and 20 bipolar patients to belong to a control group in which a psychoeducational intervention will be carried out. The study approach is quantitative with an explanatory-type scope, the chosen design is experimental and the sampling will be for convenience of the non-probabilistic type. Given the limited number of investigations concerning neurocognitive rehabilitation for people with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder in Ecuador, the present research is proposed as a starting point for the development of cognitive profiles that contribute to clinical diagnosis and early treatment of this disorder.
