Evaluation of the quality of plasma prepared from whole blood stored overnight at room temperature
2011
Objective To investigate the quality of plasma prepared from whole blood stored overnight at room temperature. Methods Whole blood(WB) units of 400 ml were collected according to standard procedures from volunteer blood donors(n=12) ,and then each unit was divided into two equal parts within 6 hrs.Plasma was separated within 6 h of collection from one part(control group,FP6) ,and the other part was stored overnight at room temperature(experimental group,FP24) before plasma preparation. All plasma were frozen in-30℃ refrigerator before testing. The coagulation factors(FⅤ,FⅦ,FⅧ,Fib) and biochemical parameters were analyzed. Results In comparison to the control group, plasma in experimental group exhibited a worse change of Na+,K+,Cl-,pH and FⅧ,but there were no statistically significantly differences, except the level of FⅧ,between the two groups. Conclusion Plasma for transfusion may be prepared from whole blood stored overnight at room temperature.
