RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CHANGE OF BLOOD LIPID AND INSULIN RESISTANCE IN TYPE 2 DIABETIC FAMILIES

2010
The aim of this work was to study the relationship between insulin resistance and blood lipid in non-diabetic siblings of first degree relatives in type 2 diabetic families. One hundred and twenty five non-diabetic siblings among first degree relatives from 103 type 2 diabetic families were selected.Glucose,insulin,C-peptide,TC,TG,LDL-C,HDL-C were measured and the HOMA model was used to calculate HOMA-IR as an index of insulin resistance. The objects were divided into two groups according to their blood lipid concentration.Fasting insulin concentration was markedly higher in hyperlipemia group than in control.Compared with control, insulin resistance in hyperlipemia group was more severe(P0.01).HOMA-IR was positively correlated with TC,TG and LDL-C(P0.01).HOMA-IR was not positively correlated with HDL-C.There was significant correlation between lipid abnormalities and insulin resistance among high-risk diabetes mellitus group.
