AN INVESTIGATION OF GROUND ACCESS MODE CHOICE FOR DEPARTING PASSENGERS

1992
This study sets out to investigate some aspects of ground access at airports. The study does not cover the different ways people are transported around once they have reached the airport site or any aspects of cargo transportation. London's Heathrow airport was used in the study. The study was designed to analyse the different modes and combinations of transport modes used, as well as any patterns that may be found among different groupings of passenger and the choice of modes used. Information is also provided on passenger evalaution of the level of service provided, and there is an investigation into the development of mode choice models using the findings of the study.
