A case-control study on risk factors for uterine leiomyomas in a hospital of Changchun.

Objective To study the risk factors for uterine leiomyoma in Changchun.Methods 160 patients with uterine leiomyoma finally diagnosed by pathologic examination were into case group while 158 of non-hysteromyoma females who were treated in a class 3A hospital in Changchun City into controls from September 2005 to September 2008.Epidemiological survey was conducted among them with questionnaire on their general situation,menstrual history,fertility and birth control history,disease history and current condition.The logistic regression was adopted to analyze the data with SPSS 13.0 software.Results In the case group,age of uterine leiomyoma patients was concentrated in the range of 31-50 yrs old,especially in 41-50 years old that was accounted for 46.88%.Multiple abortions increased the risk of uterine leiomyoma(OR=1.754,95%CI:1.115-2.759).The results of non-conditional logistic regression showed that menarchal age(OR=0.114,95%CI:0.038-0.342),times of pregnancies(1.900,1.065-3.388),abortion times(14.681,4.374-49.281) were related to uterine leiomyoma.Conclusion Menarche age,pregnancy times,abortion times may be the risk factors for uterine leiomyoma.
