Local and systemic delivery strategies for glioma immunotherapy

2022
Abstract The survival rates of glioma patients remain extremely poor despite the considerable amount of progress accomplished in the development of novel therapeutic strategies for cancer therapy. A combinatorial approach of debulking surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy is currently being followed in clinics for glioma therapy. However, the current strategy has been able to offer only moderate success with regard to the prognosis of such patients. Recent advancements in understanding the disease biology and the subsequent research findings in the field of immunotherapy holds promising potential in revolutionizing the medical field. This could pave the way for more efficacious treatment options with minimal toxicity concerns, ultimately improving overall patient survival and clinical outcome.
