ROAD ROUGHNESS MEASUREMENT -- NEW CZECH STANDARD

1996
This paper is a result of the author's work on the revision of the two Czech standards: measurement of evenness of pavement by straightedge; and measurement of evenness of pavement by compensating viagraph. The revision was necessary as highway builders have been striving to improve the evenness of pavements and laboratories have been making progress in their knowledge and ability to measure and analyze this parameter. Recently there has been considerable evolution of evenness measuring techniques. Progress is especially evident in the case of longitudinal evenness. It has brought the use of continuous profilometric survey methods by high-performance dynamic systems. The transverse evenness measurements have become necessary as a part of pavement management systems.
