A Highly Computationally Efficient Explicit-Iterative Hybrid Algorithm for Colebrook-White Equation

Colebrook-White Equation (CWE) is the cornerstone equation to determine the piping friction factor, yet its implicit feature dampens the solution. Despite profound researches have been made to rectify the equation, there is still no satisfactorily simple yet accurate approach concluded for the most convenient applications in various engineering fields. Therefore this paper is going to develop a simple algorithm which meets the optimal requirements of all simplicity, accuracy and computational cost. An explicit-iterative hybrid algorithm is proposed by leveraging the state-of-the-art development of explicit approximations of CWE, and systematically examining the rivalry between Newton-Raphson and fixed point iteration method.
