Systematic revision and geographic distribution of Chilean Mutisioideae (Asteraceae)

2021
A systematic revision including the geographic distribution of the taxa pertaining to the Chilean Mutisioideae (tribesMutisieae, Nassauvieae and Onoserideae) has been undertaken. The study has been done by means of the revision ofavailable monographs and the most recent regional checklist, together with the examination of exemplars from SGO andCONC herbaria. Results show the presence of 28 genera, 192 species, and 22 other infraspecific taxa in Chile. Sevenof these genera, 77 species, and 12 infraspecific taxa are endemic to the country. The revision suggests two additionsand two subtractions from the Chilean flora. Furthermore, the geographic distribution in Chilean regions of 47 taxa wascorrected. Finally, the implications of an adequate geographic knowledge of these species are discussed, in relationship tothe biogeography and the conservation of the Chilean flora.
