Notice of Retraction The Acute Toxicity and Chronic Effect of Atrazine to the Juvenile Chinese Mitten-Handed Crab, Eriocheir sinensis

2011
The acute toxicity of Atrazine (ATR, the most widely used herbicides in our country) to the juvenile Eriocheir sinensis (6.9 - 13.2 g in wet weight) was investigated. The results showed that the 96-h half lethal concentration (LC50) exceeded 181 mg/L. Meanwhile, juvenile male crabs were exposed to this herbicide at doses 0.001, 0.01, 0.1, 1 and 10 mg/L during 60 days, in order to evaluate the potential action of the herbicide as an endocrine disruptor. At relatively higher concentration (0.1, 1 mg/L), ATR could significantly increase progesterone concentration in serum of the male crabs.
