Accurate ray-tracing technique for wall reflections modeling

2004
An accurate knowledge of radio phenomena is essential in arriving at optimum propagation criteria for indoor radio communications, particularly in EHF links. This paper reports on a simple, but effective model developed on the basis of the ray tracing technique to simulate the effect of directional horn antenna radiation patterns upon an indoor radio channel. The model accounts for main possible propagation paths by considering them as a tube of rays, instead of a single ray. In order to validate the proposed model, two different wall scenarios have been simulated. The simulation results are in good agreement with the measurements at 37.2 GHz for perpendicular antenna polarizations.
