Interactive Holter-Monitoring of Transient Ischemic Episodes

2000
Nowadays it is possible to assess myocardial ischemia in patients with coronary heart disease by using long-term Holter-ECG-instruments analyzing the electrocardiogram online over a period of 24 hours. For this purpose special algorisms had to be developed to analyze ST-segment depressions (Kennedy, 1981). Only a few attempts were made to find reliable ECG-systems being able to notify the CHD-patient by signals on the ischemic information obtained (Barry, 1987). Only few systems so far are proved to be well-suited for this purpose: online systems, like Monitor One (Qmed) and Medilog 4500 (Oxford) are technically well-equipped for resignalling coronary events in the moment of occurence (Kennedy & Wiens, 1987).
