Magnetic Equivalent Circuit Modeling of Partitioned Stator Doubly Salient Permanent Magnet Machines

2019
In this paper, the magnetic equivalent circuit (MEC) modeling of partitioned stator doubly salient permanent magnet machines (PS-DSPM) is presented. An analytical methodology is proposed to model the air-gap flux in piecewise intervals, and the stator and rotor steel are modeled as fixed permeances. The MEC model is then implemented and executed in a time-stepped simulation. The magnetic flux characteristics and phase EMF of an example PS-DSPM are compared with finite element analysis (FEA). Especially, the two sizes of PS-DSPM machine are investigated to compare the MEC and FEM. The results obtained by MEC and FEA are in good agreement. The modeling MEC of PS-DSPM machines can be utilized for designing the same machine.
