Role of ocean-atmosphere interaction for tropical climate variability over warm pool regions

In this thesis, the role of ocean-atmosphere interaction in climate variability is investigated. There are two parts to this work. First, in chapter 2 the mechanisms for Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) are investigated in simulations with an AGCM coupled to a one column ocean model (ECHAM5-SIT). Second, in chapter 3 Tropical Storm variability and predictability are studied in an AGCM. The work of chapter 2 and 3 will be submitted soon for publication.
