Production and use of Monoclonal Antibodies to Polioviruses

1983
Abstract Murine lymphocyte hybridomas producing monoclonal antibodies to different type 1, 2 and 3 poliovirus strains have been isolated. The majority of these monoclonal antibodies are neutralizing and react with antigenic determinants present on different poliovirus strains of the same type. However, hybridomas producing monoclonal antibodies specific for each of the three Sabin vaccine strains and for selected field isolates have also been generated. A panel of monoclonal antibodies against poliovirus type 1 has been used for intratypic strain differentiation.
