Plants and Conservation in Taipa-Coloane Wetland, Macau

Great attentions have been paid on the wetland studies in recent years by scientists in different fields. A survey of distribution, composition and habitat of plants in Taipa_Coloane Wetland in Macau was undertaken to provide a basis for management. The results show that there are 52 species in this area which are dominant with herbs, and the species are most in slightly off shore by habitat analysis, in addition, the rate of alien plant species is 32.69%. We found it is relevant to the lesser area and the shorter evolvement time of wetland, and economical intercourse continually in Macau. As the maximal wetland in Macau, the Taipa_Coloane Wetland not only provide the habitat for Black-faced Spoonbill, the critically endangered birds in the world, but are also important to the biodiversity of Macau, that have been regarded by the government and society.
