Graphene as superior material for detection of volatile organic compounds

Abstract The presence of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the environment is the reason for a lot of health-related issues, and thus their detection and further successful removal is a very serious challenge in our modern society. Several materials and methodologies have been employed the past many years to fabricate a portable and handy sensing device for the detection of VOCs which would further help in their satisfactory removal in order to minimize human health hazard. Graphene has attracted intense interest of researchers for its applications in VOC sensors and degradation. In this chapter, we have tried to discuss the understanding of graphene and its applications in sensors for detecting low level of VOCs present in the environment.
