The results of a completed research are presented in this paper. The research’s purpose was to investigate the social representations of elementary school teachers inthe state of Veracruz with respect to their Permanent Training. The theory of social representations and the free software of qualitative analysis Iramuteq were considered. The research question that guided the work was: What are the social representations of elementary school teachers regarding their Permanent Training? The research was based on an exploratorystudy; the technique used was the survey and the instrument for collecting information, a questionnaire with open questions. Derived from the lexometric analysis, the corpus was characterized by the perceptions of teachers, with functions ranging from work in a group, to directive functions in a school or district office. The results of the research made it possible to identify that the social representation of the teachers regarding their Permanent Training is related to a continuous teaching update focused on their professional practice in which they participate for both intrinsic and extrinsic reasons. The criteria that teachers consider to participate in Permanent Training Programs include the professional utility they can obtain the theory with practice relationship that strengthens their teaching, so they look for professional courses.
