Optimal energy and resource management in bio-production systems
1986
Abstract This paper presents a two-level energy utilization and management analysis procedure. A simulation model is used to predict energy requirements on a continuous basis for a given bio-production system. An optimization model is then invoked to allocate available energy resources. A case study of an existing production system is included to demonstrate the procedure. Results show that a significant reduction in overall energy costs can be achieved using this approach.
